Photo by Shane Thomas. I was showing him some lighting techniques on my recent trip to New Mexico. He’s normally shoots with natural light and was a bit intimidated about using his strobes, so I suggested he go ahead and just use the modeling lights. Camera right is the modeling light of Alien bee, shot through the diffusion material on my reflector, and boomed overhead and slightly to the left is a gridded beauty dish, again, with just the modeling light.

Usually I shoot with strobes indoors but today I wanted to see what I could create with just window light, a reflector and a very dark room.
